Another one of Those Creations

Here I am with another lil composition of mine. Haha!"Let's call off our engagement" "Why?" "I just feel we weren't meant for each other. All these frequent squabbles and paranoia" That conversation remained etched in her mind. It has been two years since that happened. All those late night calls, texts, meet-ups replayed before her. How she missed those days. Thinking of a life filled with matrimonial bliss, that soon faded away. She knew the call-off would come one day. Months before that, their relationship seemed to have drifted apart. All those frequent fights and itty-bitty squabbles were part and parcel of their lives. Never did they once sat down to settle things amicably. On hindsight, if they did discuss amicably, things would not have changed. It would have remained as status-quo. "I'm sorry. I hope you understand" Sure she did. Well, in front of him. Back in her apartment, only God knew what went through in her mind. Every night, she pondered. What went wrong? What did she do wrong? What was her mistake? She teared every now and then. It was too heart wrenching. She couldn't control herself. She still loved him, cared for him. Tried explaining and stabilising things with him. But to no avail. He wanted to call it off. What more could she do. Even if she forced him to be by her side, it wouldn't be a happy one. Would it? Two years have passed. At the district park, an unexpected being was nearby. Not with her, but with another. Holding hands they were, laughing and chattering like a cute pair of hummingbirds. Not with her, but with another. Another being came into picture. A baby. A baby so fine and delicate in the stroller. There he was after two years. Still looking as dashing and smart as he ever was when she first knew him The only difference was she was not with him. He was with another. She thought of the what-it-could-have-been(s) She guessed things weren't meant to be. Loved him, she still did. But somehow, loving someone doesn't always have to be you owning them. Even if they were still engaged, they would have a hard time. She whispered to herself. She took one last look, smiled to herself. And wheeled herself back to her apartment. Yes, she was wheelchair-bound. For life. A year ago, she met with an accident. Couldn't forget him, couldn't erase him off her mind. She was alone, with no friends nor family. That was why she pinned all hope on him. But alas, fate didn't decree it. Nonetheless at the same time, she was quite glad they weren't together. She wouldn't like to be a burden to him. Did he know? No. Ever since the call off, they became distant and distant. Sure enough there were a few calls and texts, but that was it. And as dusk falls, she reeled back to sleep. Hoping for a better day, a better tomorrow. Labels: ((: |
